Do you know the name Charles Oliviera? What about Greg Soto? If these names sound familiar, it’s because both of them recently signed UFC contracts. Where did they get the experience necessary to make it to the Octagon? In Atlantic City, fighting for Lou Neglia’s Ring of Combat.
Greg Soto
We interviewed Jim Genia of Full Contact Fighter magazine who covers ROC as well as other Northeastern MMA promotions. He tells us who some of the biggest names to look for are and tells us about an exciting upcoming show once MMA is legalized in NYC.

Women can fight. It’s that simple.
I’ve always imagined myself as somewhat of a feminist. I beleive that women have a place in MMA, the same way that they have a place in any other sport. However, I’ll be perfectly honest, I can’t watch women’s basketball. I can’t watch softball. Women’s MMA, I can watch, and I like it almost as much as the men. That should say something.
So, when I come across something like this, I make sure to bring it to the masses. This is Michelle “The Karate Hottie” Waterson. She is 7-3 in her MMA career. She weighs in at 105 lbs, so for those of you who think it’s important that she is good looking, she is. As a matter of fact, check this out.

Now, pull your tongue off the floor and focus. Michelle pulls off a truly spectacular move here, and although the ref is blocking it a bit, Bas Rutten, MMA godfather, goes nuts on Inside MMA.
A chick that looks like that and can pull off a flying armbar? Sold.

We went so long with our first podcast, that we ended up cutting it to three parts. In the first part, we discuss the big news of the week, including Tito’s hospitalization, Roger Huerta in Bellator and the WEC’s chances on PPV.

The second and third parts will be coming later in the week.

One of my favorite prospects, Charles Oliveira, has been offered a multi-fight UFC deal and is expected to debut with the company soon.
MMAJunkie.com broke the news.
Oliveira has been offered an exclusive agreement and is expected to debut in the near future. Though the contract has yet to be finalized, the process appears to be a mere formality at this point. An exact date for the 20-year-old Oliveira’s first UFC fight has not been determined, and an opponent has yet to be named.
Oliveira has mostly fought in Brazil but he has one U.S. fight, a win over Dom Stanco. Stanco was a former training partner of mine and I happened to have attended that fight. I can tell you that after watching Oliveira he has Damien Maia at 155 type upside. The guy is 20 years old and moves like a snake on the ground. He’s somewhat thin for 155 but should be able to add weight easily to his long lanky frame.

The scariest thing about Oliveira is that as good as he is, and as young as he is, he hasn’t even began to scratch the surface of his potential. Jordan Breen has said on his radio show that Oliveira basically trains in his garage with friends. When he gets to a real camp, all bets are off.

The other day, we were amongst the thousands of websites that jumped all over the Tito-Chuck-Franklin TUF triangle that was happening. Well, Dana has denied everything, but I still refuse to believe that something isn’t up. Now, Tito’s wife, Former (I think she quit?) Pornstar Jenna Jameson, He is in the hospital.

As we all know too well, Tito is notorious for back issues. He has struggled with it for years, but declared himself healthy before UFC 106. When he lost to Forrest Griffin, he then claimed he had cracked his skull. No one really believed him because the commission would not let him fight with a cracked skull.
So, god only knows what’s up with Tito. However, We do wish him a speedy recovery from whatever is wrong. That being said, You can’t tell me that the Chuck and Tito fight is not very much up in the air right now.
Update: 8:35 PM – Of course, moments after I publish this post, Tito comes on Twitter himself and outs the problem.
This is the worst flu I have every had. More IV’s please.
We’ve all learned that the flu is no joke over the last couple of years. Since he is in the hospital it must be pretty bad. Get well, Tito.

Do not worry DirecTV subscribers, you won’t miss the best free card the UFC has ever offered this Sunday night.
Just days before the event, The satellite TV company came to terms after a long standoff with the Versus network. Now, if you had Versus before the blackout, you’ll have it again, as it remains part of the same package it was offered in before.

CageWriter’s Steve Cofield wonders if “The UFC has Juice” in the situation, and I think that it does in two different ways. First off, this is probably the biggest event ever to air on Versus. Not to offend any hockey fans or Pro Rodeo guys, but the UFC has the mass appeal that Versus needs if they are seriously considering trying to challenge the ESPN throne. I’m sure the people at Versus knew that they had to be willing to make some concessions to get themselves in as many homes as possible before this Sunday.
Also, did the UFC maybe put a little pressure on DirecTV themselves? Yea, probably. Hell, the means justifies the ends here.
