Kimbo Slice: “I Could Smash That Dude”

Ever wonder how Kimbo feels about his loss to Seth Petruzelli?  Kimbo recently sat down with ESPN to talk about that fight, TUF and his career.

For such a supposedly, nasty rugged street fight Kimbo is pretty well spoken.  If you just listened to the audio you would never imagine the guy speaking is the same guy who made his living off back yard brawls and bouncing for porno websites.  I kid you not.

And though Kimbo manages to sound humble at times I can’t buy his logic when it comes to his loss to Petruzelli.  As Kimbo puts it after Shamrock (his original opponent) was unable to fight he “checked out mentally” and that the Petruzelli loss doesn’t haunt him because he “knows he can beat him now, even with one hand tied behind his back.”  For a guy who has proved absolutely nothing inside a cage, and out of the streets, that just seems like a bunch of bull.

I welcome Slice to this year cast of TUF but I can’t see him going very far.  The difference between Slice and Lesnar is that Lesnar is actually an athlete.  Lesnar is a decorated collegiate wrestler, Slice is a decorated street brawler.  Big difference.

My prediction?  Slice wins one fight on TUF (somehow…wink wink…drawing the worst opponent) and gets submitted in his second fight.  After that Slice will enjoy facing an array of C level stand-up fighters (including an obvious rematch against Petruzelli) on UFC fight nights.

The hardcore MMA fans can complain all they want but the ratings will justify the UFC’s decision.  Like it or not Slice is a license to print money.
