UFC 113: Patrick Cote Silver Star Walkout Shirt

Everybody remember Patrick Cote? He’s the other Canadian guy in the UFC. He hasn’t fought since seriously injuring his leg in a title fight against Anderson Silva. He hoped to be back by UFC 104, but needless to say it took a little longer than expected.

However, he is coming back at UFC 113 in a fight against Alan Belcher. He’ll be hard pressed to fight against both Belcher and ring rust, but If I know Canada, they’ll be behind him.

Cote’s return will be in front of his home fans, and many of them will be wearing this Silver Star shirt. Just in case you didn’t know where he was from, this shirt has a giant maple leaf on the back.

MMA Warehouse has this one for 39.99 American Dollars.

Lawlor v. Credeur Booked For UFC 113…

First things first, if you live in a warm weather climate, Fuck you. We’re buried under about 2 feet of snow here in New York. That means a long day of Modern Warfare 2 and catching up on posting.

Let’s start with a fight made between two middleweights who always put on a good show. From SB Nation:

Sources close to both camps have confirmed that a middleweight bout between Tom Lawlor and Tim Credeur has been agreed upon for May 8th, in Montreal, Canada. The event, UFC 113, is rumored to be headlined by a rematch between Lyoto Machida and Maurico Rua for the UFC light heavyweight title.

Lawlor is the closest thing that the Middleweight division has to a prospect. His last two fights have been very impressive. He guillotined C.B. Dolloway, and then lost a decision that he should have won against Aaron Simpson. He has shown massive improvement since his time on The Ultimate Fighter, and should not be taken lightly despite his goofy ways.

Credeur is the ultimate action fighter. Every fight is a good one from Tim, mostly because he’s nuts. He goes out there with reckless abandon and we all remember the “warrior” speech from his stint on TUF. Credeur is 3-1 in the UFC, with his last fight with Nate Quarry garnering fight of the night honors.

Should be a good one.

UFC Undisputed 2010 Box Art!

You know what sucks? Not being able to sleep. You know what sucks worse? Waking up at 5:40 AM. Seriously, Fuck this.

Anyway, while I’m up, what better time to tell you that Brock Lesnar will be gracing the cover of this year’s UFC Undisputed. We even have a picture of it. Or at the very least Bloody Elbow does.

No word if there will be multiple covers like they did with St. Pierre in Canada last year. I’m a huge fan of this year’s box, even though I’m not Lesnar’s biggest fan. It just looks much cooler than last year’s with Forrest on the cover.

UFC 2010: Undisputed is out on May 25th, and is already available for pre-order.

Condit v. McDonald At UFC 115...

The Natural Born Killer will be back in the cage taking one of the hottest prospects in MMA. From MMA Mania:

Former WEC welterweight champion, Carlos Condit (24-5), is in talks to take on King of the Cage star Rory MacDonald (10-0), at UFC 115 from the General Motors Place in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, on June 15.

MMAmania.com learned of the pending match up earlier today.

Condit was one of the prized holdovers from the WEC takeover. He is 24-5 overall, with a 1-1 record in the UFC. His last fight was a decision victory over Jake Ellenberger. He possess great length and a good all-around game, but the question is how ready is he for the next level of competition in the UFC?

MacDonald is the MMA equivalent of the hot girl at the end of the bar that everyone is drooling over right now. Before joining the UFC, MacDonald was 9-0 at age 20, but hadn’t really fought anyone of note. Then, he comes into the UFC and wins easily against Mike “Joker” Guymon and proves that the hype is worthy.

As for the fight, I’m not sure it makes a whole lot of sense. It will certainly show us where MacDonald stands, but will beating Condit really elevate his status? For Condit, I could see using the fight as a “heat check” if he had won a couple in a row, but as it stands, I’m not sure how much I get the logic.

Give me Condit via decision over the young guy.

Forrest Griffin v. Lil Nog Added To Awesome UFC 113 Card…

Another awesome fight for the fans of Montreal. From MMA Junkie:

The fight was first reported Tuesday by Tatame.com and subsequently confirmed to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) by sources close to the situation.

Verbal agreements are in place, and contracts are expected to be finalized shortly.

Here’s something interesting: Arguably the most popular fighter in the UFC, Forrest Griffin will fight in Canada. Does anyone else think that Forrest is a bit of a “middle America” figure? He’s an unabashed redneck who’s rise to the title was something out of a Rocky movie, with Rampage Jackson starring as Apollo Creed. However, he will go out in front of a bunch of GSP fans in May. Curious of the reaction he gets.

As for the actual fight, I hate to say this about someone who was so important to the rebirth of the UFC, but I wonder how much Forrest has left. He’s not that old, but he has taken a BEATING throughout his career. You can’t tell me that doesn’t affect you. Meanwhile, Nogueira is coming off a destruction of Luiz Cane in his UFC debut, but he did have to pull out of his last fight with injury.

I’ll take Lil Nog by unanimous decision. He’s just better than Forrest in every phase.
