UFC 2010: Undisputed Sponsor List Revealed...

Sponsorship is a huge part of Mixed Martial arts. Let’s be honest, your favorite fighter could not sustain himself without help from the brands we know and love in the MMA community. Hell, certain websites even devote whole stores to MMA Brands.

UFC 2009: Undisputed did a decent job of representing this, but a lot of the cooler brands (Silver Star, Dethrone Royalty) were missing, and the menu was buried deep in the Create-a-Fighter. So deep, in fact, that I know people who just completely ignored this facet of the game. THQ has promised to rectify this in the sequel, and has taken the first step by re-launching their website and adding a “partner” list.

Here’s the full list, transcribed by yours truly. I’m sure someone will steal this, so if you do and don’t give us credit…Fuck you, sir.

  • Affliction
  • American Fighter
  • And 1
  • Bad Boy

Wow…that is a list, people. Anything in Bold is new for 2010.

Here’s some interesting things. First off, we share two sponsors with the game, MMA Warehouse and Yard Barker. Speaking of Yard Barker, isn’t it interesting that there are Media sources in there as well. How about MMA Fighting? Any chance we get to see a virtual Ariel Helwani? I sent him a tweet. Waiting to hear back.

Also, Clinch Gear is still in the game, huh? That is interesting because it is owned by Dan Henderson. As everyone knows, Henderson has left the UFC for the “greener” pastures of Strikeforce.

Most importantly, all the awesome MMA brands are there. That means lots of cool logos, T-Shirts, Fight Shorts, and other cool stuff in UFC 2010: Undisputed, and that means a more authentic experience.

Nick Diaz Suffers From Serious Delusions...

I can’t even explain how many things Nick Diaz says in this video that are completely insane. From saying that he wants to fight GSP, to saying that his brother Nate beat Gray Maynard. It’s twelve minutes of complete insanity. Thanks to MMAFighting.com, and Ariel Helwani for the video.

Lesnar Health Update Coming Tomorrow

In an interview with Ariel Helwani last week Dana White said that the UFC would hold a press conference this week to clear up Lesnar’s future. Apparently those plans have changed. Lesnar is now scheduled to appear on ESPN’s Sportscenter tomorrow.

Instead, Lesnar is scheduled to appear on “SportsCenter,” where he’s expected to give an update on his health status and a timetable for a possible return. Both White and Lesnar’s camp have been tight-lipped about the illness in recent months. However, Lesnar’s trainer, Greg Nelson, told MMAjunkie.com earlier this month that Lesnar “will fight again,” though a timetable wasn’t known.

I would assume the news on Lesnar is positive at this point. The UFC brass wouldn’t trot him out on television if he didn’t have good news. It’s a smart move by the UFC here. Lesnar and the UFC have been out of the spotlight recently due to a lack of marquee cards. By having Lesnar appear on T.V. it’ll help get the buzz back as well as promote UFC 109.

UFC Has Location For Abu Dhabi Event

News is coming in fast and furious today.  The long rumored UFC 112 card in Abu Dhabi now seems to be all but offical as a venue has been secured for the event.

Marcus Mera of Cagefashion.com has the scoop via Twitter:

UFC has a location for Abu Dhabi event! I just confirmed it!! Renzo heading out for media tour next week!

Not sure how reliable the source is but all signs were pointing in this direction anyway. The exact venue remains to be seen. Dana White in an interview with Ariel Helwani had suggested that his new found investors would be building a stadium for him.

Video Interview: Dana White

Seriously, Ariel Helwani is the man. He has all the contacts in the world, and always seems to ask all of the best questions in when he gets an interview. Check out him talking to Dana White about everything from the sale of ten percent of the UFC (which I’m still waiting to comment on, I know) to Brock Lesnar’s health.

Marc Ecko Helps The Cause…

It’s 2010! That means a bunch of things. First, it means that we get to argue about what to call this freakin’ year. I’m a fan of Twenty-ten. Not enough time in the day to waste on unnecessary syllables.

More importantly, it means that New York State Senate goes back into session soon. That means that pretty soon, we’ll be free to full mount and superman punch people all we want when the state finally decides to legalize MMA. It is coming. Don’t fight it.

But since it’s not done yet, we can use all the help we can get. That’s why clothing magnate Marc Ecko has put together a little documentary. It has some great sources it in, including one of our personal favorite MMA reporters, Ariel Helwani. Miguel Torres in there too, and he has an awesome mullet.

The full thing comes out on Friday. Until then, enjoy the trailer.
