The 3SS Podcast: Episode 1: Franklin, Couture, and Liddell...Oh My!

We went so long with our first podcast, that we ended up cutting it to three parts. In the first part, we discuss the big news of the week, including Tito’s hospitalization, Roger Huerta in Bellator and the WEC’s chances on PPV.

The second and third parts will be coming later in the week.

UFC 2010: Undisputed Sponsor List Revealed...

Sponsorship is a huge part of Mixed Martial arts. Let’s be honest, your favorite fighter could not sustain himself without help from the brands we know and love in the MMA community. Hell, certain websites even devote whole stores to MMA Brands.

UFC 2009: Undisputed did a decent job of representing this, but a lot of the cooler brands (Silver Star, Dethrone Royalty) were missing, and the menu was buried deep in the Create-a-Fighter. So deep, in fact, that I know people who just completely ignored this facet of the game. THQ has promised to rectify this in the sequel, and has taken the first step by re-launching their website and adding a “partner” list.

Here’s the full list, transcribed by yours truly. I’m sure someone will steal this, so if you do and don’t give us credit…Fuck you, sir.

  • UFC
  • Affliction
  • American Fighter
  • And 1
  • Bad Boy
  • BSN
  • Cage Fighter
  • Clinch Gear
  • Death Clutch
  • Dethrone Royalty
  • Ecko MMA
  • Fairtex
  • The Fight! Network
  • Fighters Only Magazine
  • FYT
  • Hayabusa
  • Headblade
  • Hitman Fight Gear
  • Hostility
  • Lugz
  • Metabolic Adaptation
  • MMA Connected
  • MMA Elite
  • MMA Warehouse
  • MMA Fighting
  • MusclePharm
  • MicroTech
  • Nogi
  • NuVasive
  • One More Round
  • OTM Fight Shop
  • Pain Inc.
  • Punishment Athletics
  • Premier Fighter
  • RVCA
  • Silver Star
  • Sinister
  • SPIKE TV
  • SPRAWL
  • Suckerpunch
  • Take A Nap
  • TapouT
  • Throwdown
  • Toe 2 Toe
  • Tokyo Five
  • Venum
  • Warrior International
  • Xyience
  • Yard Barker
  • Yuke’s

Wow…that is a list, people. Anything in Bold is new for 2010.

Here’s some interesting things. First off, we share two sponsors with the game, MMA Warehouse and Yard Barker. Speaking of Yard Barker, isn’t it interesting that there are Media sources in there as well. How about MMA Fighting? Any chance we get to see a virtual Ariel Helwani? I sent him a tweet. Waiting to hear back.

Also, Clinch Gear is still in the game, huh? That is interesting because it is owned by Dan Henderson. As everyone knows, Henderson has left the UFC for the “greener” pastures of Strikeforce.

Most importantly, all the awesome MMA brands are there. That means lots of cool logos, T-Shirts, Fight Shorts, and other cool stuff in UFC 2010: Undisputed, and that means a more authentic experience.

Paulo Filho To Fight Hector Lombard For Bellator...

Paulo Filho is fighting in America once again.

According to Brazilian magazine, TATAME, Filho will take on Bellator champion Hector Lombard at the company’s May 20th event. Just warning you now, everything through the link is in Portuguese. Enjoy.

Filho made news last month when he bailed on a Bitetti Combat show just hours before the weigh-in. He later said that he never agreed to financial terms with the company. Filho is also infamous for antics like this other places, as he seems to suffer from serious depression and other mental instabilities. However, he does have a sweet new face tattoo.

Lombard won the Bellator middleweight title by defeating Jared Hess in last year’s tournament final. Since then, he 3-0 including a win over former UFC punchline Kalib Starnes.

How do I feel about the fight? I’d rather just post you a tweet from SI’s Josh Gross.

RT @MTFIII @SI_JoshGross – Your thoughts on Filho vs. Lombard at the 5/20 Bellator show? … Believe it when I see it.

Pulver, Severn, and Royce Gracie Are Playable in UFC 2010: Undisputed for PS3...

For the first time in my life, I wish I had a PS3.

That’s because the Playstation version of the game will feature several UFC legends. Those legends are lightweight Jens Pulver, UFC open-weight pioneer Royce Grace, and heavyweight Dan Severn. This is all according to the best source in the biz, MMAFighting.com.

Royce Gracie, Dan Severn and Jens Pulver will be playable characters exclusively for the Playstation 3 version of the UFC Undisputed 2010 video game.

MMA Fighting can also confirm Carlos Condit is a new addition to this year’s game, and returning are Martin Kampmann, Demian Maia, Keith Jardine and Nate Marquardt.

Gracie and Severn haven’t competed for the UFC in years, but are two of seven members in the UFC Hall of Fame. Pulver, the UFC’s first lightweight champion, currently competes under the WEC banner. Last year’s game, which didn’t feature a legends roster, included the TapouT crew as the only playable characters not under the UFC fighting roster.

Very Cool. Unfortunately, for me and the rest of the Xbox 360 owners out there, it doesn’t stop there. The PS3 will also have access to five extra “Ultimate Fights.” Here is the list:

Ultimate 2009 Category
UFN 18 – Carlos Condit vs. Martin Kampmann

Ultimate Knockouts Category
UFC 102 – Nate Marquardt vs. Demian Maia

Ultimate Classics Category
UFC 60 – Matt Hughes vs. Royce Gracie
UFC 66 – Keith Jardine vs. Forrest Griffin

Ultimate Submissions Category
UFC 68 – Martin Kampmann vs. Drew McFredries

For those who are new to the world of video games, don’t expect this to go unanswered by Microsoft. There will likely be exclusives for the Xbox 360 versions as well. Of course, we’ll have them once we know.
