Hednricks is a fighter that I am really excited about. Here’s the news from Bloody Elbow:
According to topmmanews.com, a welterweight bout between Nova Scotia native, TJ Grant (15-3) and Johny Hendricks (7-0) is in the works for UFC 113 in Montreal.
Grant is Canadian and that’s why the fight is on the Montreal card. He’s an alright fighter who is 2-1 in the UFC, but he’s never done anything to really excite me.
On the other hand, Hendricks is someone who I’ve had my eye on for awhile. A member of the Oklahoma State wrestling dynasty, he’s moved into MMA seemlessly and is now 7-0 with wins over Amir Sadollah and Ricardo Funch on his record. He has great wrestling and possesses really nice power to go along with it.
If he wins this fight, look for him to take a step up in competition and face an opponent that will be inside the top 10. Someone like Mike Swick (assuming he defeats Thiago) makes a lot of sense.
