Could the 108 curse be continuing? From The Northwest Indiana Times:
The injury bug continues to bite the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Former lightweight champion Sean Sherk has suffered an injury and will not fight on the Jan. 2 UFC 108 card, The Times learned Thursday from sources close to Sherk’s camp.
Sherk reportedly was scheduled to fight Jim Miller, though the bout had not yet officially been announced by the organization.
Ironically, Sherk was replacing Tyson Griffin, who just last week was forced off the card with an injury of his own.
It is not yet known if the loss of Sherk on the main card will mean the organization will look for a new opponent for Miller or if he will be scrapped from the card, as well.
Can’t believe I just blockquoted something from the Northwest Indiana Times.
If Sherk is out, there is just almost nothing redeeming about this card. I actually feel terrible for Dana White. Another thing to think about is this: Is Sherk really hurt, or has he pulled out because he won’t pass a steroids test? He was caught once before, but I’d like to beleive that he’s really hurt.
We’ll update this story as we find out more.
UPDATE: It’s official. He’s out with a cut over his eye according to Josh Gross’ Twitter. According to MMA Weekly, his replacement will be Duane Ludwig. Just for good measure, here is a picture of the cut from Sherdog:
