UFC 105: Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy TapouT Walkout Shirt

Are you a fan of loudmouth British guys with Red Mohawks? If you are, you are probably either a loudmouth, British, or have a red mohawk.

Anyway, Hardy has catapulted himself to a title shot with his last win over Mike Swick. He’s got heavy hands, good boxing and sick Muay Thai. The problem is no one knows what’s going to happen when George St. Pierre takes him to the ground.

Here’s the shirt he wore to the ring when he beat Swick:

I hate to say this, but I love this shirt. I’ve always been a fan of 70’s punk culture, and this shirt might as well be the cover of a Sex Pistols album. Plus, it’s red! Just like his Mohawk!

MMA Warehouse has it for 27.99.

TUF 10 Finale: Jones Thinks He Can Wrestle With Hamill…

Come on. Everyone has to be impressed with how little Jon Jones Man-Love I’ve presented since UFC 100. I’ve purposely stayed off his jock this time just to prove that I can, but now, just a few days before his fight, I am in full on clinging to his leg, hype mode.

Jones, the ultra-athletic, super exciting prospect from Endicott, New York will take on Matt “The Hammer” Hamill on Saturday, and it will mark Jones’ coming out party to the main stream audience.

The gameplan, which will be provided by fight strategy master and Jones’ new trainer Greg Jackson, should be to stand and strike with Hamill, an incredibly decorated wrestler. However, Jones doesn’t think that going to the ground with The Hammer is a death sentence. From Bloody Elbow:

Matt had a great collegiate career, but it was so long ago. If you were a great wrestler, unless you’re all about wrestling every day, and still training at that level, you lose a lot of it. And for people to say that Matt’s just gonna take me down, hold me down, ground and pound me and beat me that way, it’s just ridiculous. I can’t wait to show the people that I’m a fresh wrestler out of college. Matt’s college career was like ten years ago. This time last year I was warming up for tournaments. I’m a wrestling coach now at Ithaca College, I wrestle at Cornell University all summer long, so I think it’s funny that people are giving him that huge gap in the wrestling department, and I can’t wait to make Matt prove that he’s a better wrestler than me.”

… “I’m gonna continue to be a grinder and continue to work hard, improve, and keep my head on straight. I’m not resting until I’m officially Anderson Silva status.”

Uhhh…I have chills. Anyway, while I don’t have any doubt that Jon Jones could leap tall buildings if he wanted to, I don’t want to see him on the ground with Hamill. Instead, he should be standing and moving against a much slower opponent.

How To Sound Like An Idiot: Ron Artest Getting Drunk at Halftime

Ladies and gentlemen, I don’t even know where to begin. I’m flabbergasted. Rotoworld:

Lakers forward Ron Artest admits he used to drink alcohol during games while he was on the Bulls.

“I used to drink Hennessy … at halftime,” said Artest, who played with the Bulls from 1999-2002. “I (kept it) in my locker. I’d just walk to the liquor store (near the stadium) and get it.” This is very shocking news and it will be interesting to see what David Stern has to say about this one. Owners should hope that Artest is not disciplined so long after the fact.

David Stern just passed out and died in his office. I can’t believe that Artest is this stupid. It’s one thing for an athlete to have an alcohol problem, as we’ve seen that way too many times in the past. I don’t think that’s the problem here. The problem is that he is just far too dumb for his own good.

Is it bad that I have nothing more to say? That should show you the kind of esteem that I hold Artest in.

Maybe he was drunk for the brawl. That would at least be some kind of explanation.

Bobby Hebert Is A Douchebag...And Not For The Reason You Think!

I was just doing my daily comb-thru of Pro Football Talk, and I found this story that made me cringe.

On Monday night, former Saints quarterback Bobby Hebert apparently had forgotten to take his laptop to the Superdome.

Here’s the video evidence of Hebert openly celebrating after Drew Brees found an uncovered Devery Henderson for a 75-yard touchdown. (Thanks, ClubhouseCancer.com.)

Now, there aren’t a ton of people out there who can appreciate the no cheering in the press box rule, because they don’t ever step into a press box. I’ve been there, I know what it’s like. It’s hard not to cheer for your team, but you don’t do it because it’s your job.

There are a different set of rules for radio announcers, as they are told that it’s okay to be a homer. Radio announcers are supposed to convey the idea that they want their team to win. So, I’m not pissed about that.

Bobby just looks like a moron. He is sitting there in the press box, wearing Saints merchandise and dancing around like Frank the Tank. To make it worse, there are some people from Louisiana on the PFT comment section that talk about Hebert’s tendency to drink like Frank the Tank.

So, in short, I don’t care that he’s cheering for the home team. I care that he looks like a moron and it’s funny.

(EDIT: So, the video I put up got taken down. However, instead I put up another one. This time Hebert is dressed normally, but instead gives the old “F” you sign to the other team. Well done, bobby.)

Bader Takes On Jardine At UFC 110

With all these injuries currently haunting the UFC, it’s time for all of the young prospects to start stepping up, taking bigger fights, and sink or swim. We’ve seen it with Jon Jones, Cain Velasquez and now it’s Ryan Bader’s turn. MMA Weekly bring us:

A light heavyweight bout has been added to the UFC’s first trip to the land down under. “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 8 winner Ryan “Darth” Bader looks to keep his undefeated record in tact as he faces “The Dean of Mean” Keith Jardine.

The bout was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com on Tuesday by multiple sources close to the fight, who indicated bout agreements have been issued for the upcoming fight.

Bader (10-0) has looked strong in both of his fights since winning The Ultimate Fighter competition, most recently in a unanimous decision victory over Eric “Red” Schafer. The former All-American from Arizona State showed some dangerous stand-up to compliment his impressive wrestling background to batter Schafer for the better part of the fight to get the win.

Now taking a step forward in competition, Bader sets his sights on Jardine (15-6-1), who has been a perennially tough fighter, always in or hovering around the Top 10 of the 205-pound division.

Bader is still the most potential filled 205 fighter this side of Jonny Bones, but he is moving up big time. He’s a great wrestler with a huge right hand, but his game is far from perfect. He lacks brisp boxing, and relies far too much on his power to get him through fights.

He’s never fought anyone anywhere close to the talent level of Jardine. While I’m very tough on Kieth, he is always hanging around the top 10 of the UFC light heavyweight division. The list of names that he fought reads like a list of legends of the sport: Rampage Jackson, Chuck Liddell, Forrest Griffin, and Wanderlei Silva are just a few of the high quality opponents that he’s fought. He features some bizarre striking that sometimes gives people problems, but has generally figured by most higher end fighters. He’s got pretty good takedown defense, but there seems to be a pattern. When he gets taken down, he loses. When he can avoid them he wins. One look at his report on FightMetric will show you that one.

I like Bader to take “The Dean of Mean” down and get a victory here.
