November 14, 2009: Milwaukee Bucks 129 – Golden State Warriors 125.
Brandon Jennings: 55 points (21-34 FG, 7-8 3PT, 6-8 FT) 5 rebounds 5 assists
While the rebounds and assists may seem average, this is a rookie point guard who just dropped double nickel! With every impressive game Jennings has, the NCAA cringes as more and more high school seniors will find overseas to be the more attractive route rather than college. Knicks fans are quiet tonight, as well they should be. Jordan Hill is showing some positive signs (in garbage time albeit).
Here’s to Brandon Jennings, your 2009-10 ROY.

Mike,
Here’s why: When the Knicks are sitting with the 8th pick how can they appropriately assess their team and think “Okay, Jordan Hill fits our team in a way more so than Jennings or Ty Lawson.” It just does not make sense. Point guard was an obvious position of need and you can’t say it does not matter because we got Douglas at #29 and he is off to a fast start because he was not a lock to be there.
When I said Knicks fans were quiet it was about the fact that here’s a guy who just dropped 55 points a game and he was available to you at the time yet you decided to go with Hill. Would Jennings have helped you to more than one win? Probably.
The team is 1-9 and the fans are embarrassed. Wouldn’t now be a good time for the fans to study the young core of players they have for the future. It’s a shame that does not include Jennings. Think about it, you want a PG/PF combo instead of Hill and Douglas. How about Jennings and DeJuan Blair? That would look better.
Reply to Matt SoldanoI wanna know why you assume Knicks fans should be quiet over Brandon Jennings…and not their 1-9 start.
Also Matt you frequently compare rookies who are in completely different situations. Jennings is the starter and playing big minutes. Jordan Hill is averaging 7 minutes a game… the same argument was made for Eric Gordon being picked instead of Gallo based on Gallo being hurt and Gordon playing for a team that had the #1 pick in the draft.
If you want to tell me that the Knicks could use Jennings noone will deny that- but Douglas has shown alot in the last 3-4 games to showcase his potential. And Hill, when getting the chance, is shooting over 60% from the field.
Jennings is good- and going to get better as he fills out his frame with age and an NBA weight program. But to say that is why Knicks fans are silent is unfair and not true. The team is garbage and that is why everyone is silent.
Reply to Mike TMike,
The minutes argument doesn’t really hold much water. Look at the per minute stats, and Hill doesn’t hold a candle to Jennings either.
Hell, he doesn’t hold a candle to Mareese Speights.
