Well, how often do you see a sporting event postponed due to an injury to an important member of said event? Hell, if we could do this in the NFL, The Giants might actually have their starting D-Line back before the season starts.
Well, WEC 43 has indeed been postponed for over a month according to CageWriter:
According to a press release from World Extreme Cagefighting, next week’s WEC 43 event, scheduled for September 2 in Youngstown, Ohio, has been postponed. Benson Henderson, who was to fight for the interim lightweight belt against Donald Cerrone, suffered an undisclosed injury.
The good side of this postponement is that it gives executives from Versus a chance to work out a deal with DirecTV. The satellite television provider said it will dump Versus at the end of this month. Versus is the television home of World Extreme Cagefighting.
Henderson recently revealed that his vision is vastly improved due to surgery on his eyes, but there is no word as to whether the injury is related to his eyes.
This is already a weird situation because this fight was put together because Jamie Varner, the WEC Lightweight champ, hasn’t been able to defend his belt for nearly a year. Now, we will have to wait yet another month to see a championship lightweight fight on a WEC card.

I love the fact that Marc Ecko’s huge clothing company is one of the many mainstream brands that is now supporting Mixed Martial Arts. It started a while ago when they sponsored former WEC Bantamweight champ Miguel Angel Torres. Now, they’ve a released a few non-fighter specific shirts that are pretty cool. Check them out.

Ecko Warlord Shirt

Ecko Dead Reflection Shirt

Ecko Myth-Mash Shirt
All three are available at Ecko.com and all three will run you just 26 bucks. For MMA shirts, that’s dirt cheap.
Thanks to MMAgearguide.com for the pictures.

Two Seconds. Jesus Christ. Watch this, the intros take about 100 times the amount of time that the fight takes.

For two weeks, everyone has been talking about how terrible the Giants WRs have looked, and how no one is sure exactly how the depth chart will shake out. Well, according to Tom Rock of Newsday, Hakeem Nicks took a huge step towards being a starter today in practice.
For the first time, Hakeem Nicks looked like a first-round draft pick in today’s practice. He’d made a few plays before that, but today he really showed up. Here’s what he did:
On a deep pass down the left sideline he made a catch on an underthrown ball from Andre Woodson, stopping to elude the coverage of DeAndre Wright. He ran almost the same exact play with the same cast of characters later in practice on another ball that was underthrown.
On a deep pass down the right sideline he made a one-handed grab on a nice pass from Rhett Bomar with Bruce Johnson in coverage (more on that play later).
In a red zone drill he made a one-handed catch on a fade down the right sideline from Bomar. Couldn’t see who the defender was but it looked like it might have been Bruce Johnson again.
“It’s the right time for that to happen,” Tom Coughlin said. “I see a little bit every day, a little bit better every day.”
We all knew that Nicks wasn’t as bad as he had been playing, but I think every Giant fan had started to worry just a little bit. Nicks came into camp overweight and struggled in both pre-season games, although he did get a 55 yard catch on Saturday night.
Hopefully, this is a sign of things to come for the former Tar Heel.

It looks like the Huntington Beach Bad Boy is going to get back in the ring before the end of the year. According to MMAWeekly, The bout against Mark Coleman has been signed and placed on the card for UFC 106 on November 21st.
Tito Ortiz on Monday confirmed his upcoming bout with Mark Coleman at UFC 106 in Las Vegas. The two are expected to meet in a light heavyweight bout supporting the Nov. 21 main event between UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and challenger Shane Carwin.
Ortiz confirmed the bout in a YouTube video posted on Monday, showing him signing the contract and faxing it in to the UFC offices.
When the two meet in the Octagon, it will have been a year and a half since Ortiz last fought. His most recent action was a loss to current UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida at UFC 84 in May of 2008. Since then, he has had back surgery, which he says is fully healed and put him back at 100-percent healthy for the first time in years.
“You guys don’t know how excited I am for this fight to happen. It’s my comeback fight and it’s Mark Coleman, former heavyweight world champion,” said Ortiz in the video.
This is added to a card that already includes heavyweight Champ Brock Lesnar taking on Shane Carwin. Since Lesnar is on the card, we already know that people will buy it. What we wont be able to do is get an answer to the question “Can Tito still draw?” Personally, we think that he doesn’t. However, we will see.
