Jesus, this thing has really taken off huh? Pretty soon, everyone you know is going to be jumping out of pools. Anyway, UFC middleweight Jake Rosholt proves that white men can jump by doing it backwards, as well as the standard old boring forwards.

Well, that happened quickly. A number #1 contender bout between Carwin and Cain Velasquez has been altogether called off and Carwin has been deemed worthy of taking on Brock Lesnar for the UFC Heavyweight championship.
This is all for the best. Carwin has a much better chance of defeating Lesnar than Velasquez does simply because the latter lacks any kind of real power. The bigger, stronger Carwin has a much better shot at the dethroning the king, as long as he uses the right gameplan. You know, the one that I detailed here. It’s hard to pick against Lesnar right now, but I still don’t know if he can win a fight in the standup department. If Carwin can stay on his feet, I really like his chances in this fight. As for Velasquez, this is the best thing for him. While he is an elite level prospect, MMA’s version of Stephen Strasburg perhaps, he is still figuring out his game. He needs to work on his ground and pound to develop damaging power from top position. Right now, his best chance of winning fights is by outpointing opponents. That doesn’t work when you are fighting for championships. You have to at least threaten to end the fight. Earlier this morning, in a New York City courthouse, former New York Giants wide receiver, Plaxico Burress, has pleaded guilty to a weapons-possession charge resulting from a November 2008 episode in which Burress accidentally shot himself in the leg in a nightclub. According to the New York Times:
Well I always had this sneaky suspicion that Burress was somehow going to get off without doing any jail time but I could never figure out as to why. Guess I was wrong about this. Burress basically had no other choice but to accept a plea deal to lessen the sentence. The question now is when Plax gets out by the age of 33 or so, how many teams will be lining up to take phone calls from agent Drew Rosenhaus? My guess, not that many… For his first fight under UFC contract, James “Lightning” Wilks will take Matt “The Immortal” Brown at UFC 105. Wilks won the ninth season of “The Ultimate Fighter” when he defeated American DeMarques Johnson by rear naked choke at the end round 1. He is a strong jiu-jitsu fighter and most importantly, he is British. UFC 105 will be the next event taking place across the pond. Brown is best known for being the man who garnered his nickname from surviving an overdose on heroin. He was on season 7 of TUF, and became one of the coolest men on earth when he threatened Jeremy May’s life. Forrest Griffin even compared him to Chuck Norris. In the ring, Brown is 3-1 since entering the UFC, with victories over Pete Sell, Ryan Thomas and Matt Arroyo. His lone loss was to Dyun-hung Kim via split decision. Brown will likely attempt to stand with Wilks to avoid being submitted. Does anyone else notice that there is no “development” of Ultimate Fighter winners anymore? Recently, Amir Sadollah lost his first fight against a tough fighter in Johny Hendricks. Now, Wilks is being thrown in against Brown who is no slouch. Compare Matt Brown to Brian Gassaway who Diego Sanchez fought after wining TUF 1. All in all, I like Matt Brown in England. As you know, if you’ve ever read this site…or met me, I watch a lot of crappy VH1 Reality TV. Needless to say when I caught the commercials for Megan Wants A Millionaire I was excited. I watched the first few episodes and while it had it’s moments the cast was more creepy and awkward then funny. Early today The Superficial posted some interesting news.
Eeek. The story went on to say that Jenkins, known as the “Smooth Operator” on the show, was fleeing to his native Canada. Jenkins was one of the final two contestants on Megan Wants A Millionaire and was also rumoured to have won I Love Money 3. Due to the alleged crimes Jenkins may have committed Vh1 has pulled the plug on Megan Wants A Millionaire. People.com reports
All I can say is wow. |
