The Cano Conundrum Year #2…

- The article that got Jason in trouble last year returns because Robinson Cano seems destined to make Jason look like an idiot one more time.
Robby is beginning his usual summer revival by hitting .420 over his last seven games. He also has has nine RBIs in that span. Can I explain why this guy simply can’t hit during the first half, and then hits in bunches during the second? Nope. I won’t even try.
I still wish that he would develop some plate discipline. As good as he is at hitting the bad balls, he’s better at hitting the ones that are actually in the zone. If he walked a little bit, I could deal with some of the bad balls he swings at.
- The Yankees finally started listening to me, and started calling up some of the prospects that are domianting Triple-A. However, they threw me a curve ball and brought up David Robertson, who is not the Center from the Spurs, but a very good reliever.
At Scranton, he is currently sporting a 1.64 ERA and a WHIP of 1.03. He’s pitched 33 innings, so the sample size is big enough to say that he’s nasty and feel pretty okay with it.
According to Pending Pinstripes, Robertson throws a 95 MPH fastball and a cutter than comes in at around 90. “He can’t seem to throw the ball straight, and that’s a good things.”
He always throws a power slider and a curveball, but here is the best part. He strikes people out, and gets groundballs. Nothing like a guy who can use both of the best ways to get outs to his advantage.
I’m excited to see what D.Rob (Yea, that should stick.) can do in the pros.
