Etric Pruitt - Yet Another 3SS Namesake

A question we get a lot here is: “Where in god’s name did you get the name “The 3rd String Safety?” Well, the name originally comes from John Keith, who held that very position for the San Francisco 49ers back in the day. Jason, at age 15, went on a whole rant about the logic of keep a third safety instead of an extra lineman or linebacker. Over the years, we’ve kept the name in our back pockets just in case we ever decided to start a band. Then we started the blog, and wallah, here we are.
However, John Keith is not the only third string safety that exists in the league? Someone pointed out to me the existence Etric Pruitt, who held the glorious distinction of being the third string safety on the Seattle Seahawks.
Congratulations, Etric. You are officially an internet icon.
