You Like me, You Really Like Me! - Susan Lucci
I’m on a quote kick, can you tell? Anyway, I stumbled across IGN’s reader top 100, and what happened to be the first game on it? ESPN 2k5.
I beleive that the people over there put it better than I possibly could:
Few games on this list are peppered with as much unchecked anger as ESPN NFL 2K5, and with good reason: the $20 price point, raft of features and the swan song for Visual Concepts’ NFL efforts before EA very strategically (and some would say shamelessly) plucked the NFL license from its competition resulted in the ultimate case of sports game blue balls. Nobody will ever know how the follow-up would have been, and it’s left a kind of “Dreamcast-like” sense of loss for some. At least fans can take solace in the fact that your fellow gamers love it just as much as you did.
At least we know that it was appreciated.
